Design and Implementation of a Learning and Development Strategy for Neander Motors

Neander is an innovative engineering company who are developing a new generation of efficient and premium diesel engines.

The challenge

Neander has a large global network of distributors and customers. They are from different cultural backgrounds and speak over 18 different languages and need to be trained quickly in two core areas: Technical Support and Sales and Marketing.

After an initial consultation, Learning Perspective was commissioned to:

1. Support to shape and define a learning and development strategy for the design and implementation of learning materials suitable to each audience.

2. Research into and recommend a Learning Management System (LMS) to host the learning.

3. Develop learning materials and courses.

4. Support the implementation of the learning and development strategy.

Consultancy actions
A Learning & Development strategy was created with curriculum maps, syllabi and dealer level learning journeys for 60 hours of learning. Also included was the audience profile, presentations regarding understanding how people learn, competitor training evaluation, and development organisation according to the ADDIE model.

LMS specifications list for Neander was created and compared alongside a vast number of LMS systems through trials and demos before a recommendation list was presented.

Ongoing collaborative work with Neander teams is now enabling the creation of bespoke blended learning experiences (eLearning - asynchronous and synchronous, and face-to-face) as appropriate to the learning objectives. These include gamification, videos, interactive diagrams and scenes, presentations and ultimately virtual reality.

When we first spoke with Joy we knew our overall goal, which could almost sound impossible: to train thousands of people in a very short time with practically non-existent training materials. It is rare to find such a great listener and knowledgable consultant who can ask the right questions, help us clarify our needs and pull together all the different threads into a comprehensive plan of action.

She quickly understood the heart of the issue, took a pragmatic approach and has build great relationships with our Engineering and Sales and Marketing teams contributing to the success of this project. Our teams report she communicates incredibly clearly, is warm yet promotes accountability, and her collaborative style of managing this process is very much welcomed by our experienced and knowledgable team.

I have no hesitation in recommending her consultancy service.
